If an organization wants to allow their nurses to send prescriptions (renewals only) they would set:
- Preference -> Medication -> Non-Scheduled Meds Order Authorization Request = Not Required
- Preference -> Medications/Orders -> Enable Rx-Order Verification = No for the Users
- Security Code to Nurse Security Classification = Can Renew
If a nurse is allowed to send renewals and that includes Sched II drugs they would also need the security code: Med Order Protocol
If they wanted their nurses/staff to start New Rx’s that would send a task to the provider to authorize they would set:
- Preference – Medication -> Non-Scheduled Meds Order Authorization Request = No Required
- Preference -> Medications/Orders -> Enable Rx-Order Verification = Yes
- Security Code to Nurse Security Classification = Can Prescribe
But an organization could not have both workflows
