Description
The ARIC Coronary Heart Disease Risk assessment tool uses information from the ARIC study. It is designed for adults, 45-65 years old, who do not have heart disease to predict the patient’s chance of having a heart attack in the next 10 years.
Optimal Levels of Risk Factors
- Being a non-smoker
- Total cholesterol of less than 200 mg/dL
- HDL cholesterol greater than 60 mg/dL
- Systolic blood pressure less than 120 mHg and not needing treatment for high blood pressure
