Description
In 2010, reporting requirements for participation in the ePrescribing incentive program simplified and physicians are now only required to submit information on one ePrescribing measure: G code, 8553. Reporting of this G code indicates that an eligible professional has electronically transmitted a prescription for a Medicare patient seen in their office.
An Encounter Summary Alert for this G code was updated to reflect a generic statement, indicating that a G Code may need to be added to the encounter form if a prescription was transmitted electronically for a Medicare patient.
