The Quick List is not limited to a certain number of entries.  The recommendation is that the Quicklist only contains up to 50 items so the user does not need to scroll to see any values, but there is no way to prevent users from adding more than that.  As a rule of thumb, the Quick List is meant to have items that are used on a daily basis, while the Favorites List is meant to be used for items that are used on a weekly basis.
