A Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) is an institution built for, and tasked with, the integration and exchange of digital medical information in a certain region. RHIOs are typically multi-stakeholder groups created by the organizations whose data they are processing.

RHIOs are critically important to the evolution of the health care system of the United States as it moves to Electronic Health Records and Personal Health Records.
