Description

The report dictionary is one way that you can secure access to specific reports or report groupings in Allscripts Enterprise EHR.

Implementation Tricks

It is fairly well known that it is generally not a good idea to run the delivered Allscripts Enterprise Reports during business hours for large organizations as large data reads can impact performance and, in some cases, even cause interruption with the system.

That said, one of Allscripts greatest selling points is the control they give their clients with reporting and, therefore, it should not be unheard of to still allow access to specific reports without handing the keys over to the entire library.

Creating limited access to the reports delivered in Allscripts Enterprise can be done in 2 easy steps.

  1. In the report dictionary (TWAdmin Workspace >> Dictionaries >> Report Dictionary) you can tie each delivered report to a specific security code. By default each code is not tied to a report so a manual effort will be required to set them up.
  2. In security admin assigning these respected codes to a a security gate which users will commonly be associated.

The result will be limited access to reports that general system users should not have access to.

Examples

  • Billing: Common reports that you may want to allow billing super-users to have access to would be the "Daily Charge" & the "Missing Charge" reports.
  • Clinical: Common reports that you may want to allow billing super-users to have access to would be the "Unsigned Notes" & the "Arrived visits missing documentation" reports.
  • Enterprise Support: Support staff should monitor the Allscripts Enterprise Error Report
  • Quality Assurance: System Audit Tracking.
