Definition
To Transcribe is to transfer recorded words to typed text. Transcription software solutions allow the typed text to be moved and stored electronically rather than the traditional practice of typing on paper and delivering and storing in hard copy.
Description
The Allscripts Transcribe module is intended to serve as an in-house transcription solution for providers using Touchworks EHR. The full Transcribe module itself is comprised of 2 main applications; Winscribe (manages and routes dictations/voice files) and the Text Input Utility (Word based tool used to type and file them into EHR).
These 2 applications can be deployed together as a pair or the Text Input Utility can be installed by itself. If Winscribe is being utilized then the dictations would be originating from either an EHR PC workstation or from an IPAQ device. If Text Input Utility is being used as a standalone application then it is likely the case that the provider is dictating to tape.
