Purpose: The purpose of super users and super docs are to provide a support system within the department.  Super users are utilized during the build process to provide input on building the system.  They also assist in validating workflows.  Super users provide a first point of contact within the department.  Involvement of a Super Doc is vital as these individuals normally have different insight to build and user issuesThis also provides a peer to peer support for providers.

Selection Criteria:  Super Users should be willing participants and selected based on their enthusiasm for technology and ability to relate to their peers, which means they should be approachableThey should also have the ability to dedicate additional time for meetings and training sessions. Individuals in “lead” roles are not always the best choice as they normally have their plates pretty full already.   
  
Selection Process: One Super User and One Super Doc per department, if department is large may want two and two.  We recommend you also consider assigning a Super User from the billing office and possibly front desk personnel (any other department affected by the EMR implementation).  Scan Super Users should be assigned as well.
