Galen eCalcs - Calculator: Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale (ESAS)
Description
The Edmonton System Assessment System (ESAS) tool is designed to provide a clinical profile of nine symptoms commonly found in cancer patients. The evaluated symptoms are pain, tiredness, nausea, depression, anxiety, drowsiness, appetite, wellbeing, and shortness of breath. These severity levels are intended to be evaluated at the actual time of assessment on a scale of 0 -10. There is an additional 10th measure that accepts free text. This allows the provider to track an additional measure of their choice.
