Security for Converted Dictations (tested for TW v11)

To prevent the "Request Correction" feature, for dictated documents, additional security needs to be applied. The issues is that even though the document themselves are finalized, a user can still edit and "Request a Correction". For example the concern may be that for converted documents it is expected that they match to the source documents.

The fix: In TWAdmin go to document type dictionary, search for the desired document type. In this case I changed “LETTER” which is an RTF. Set the signature authority and finalization authority to a 9. For most TW users documents that are generated at the provider level generally are set to 8. (this may not really be necessary but I feel better having done so :) ) Change the document from electronic signature to non electronic. In this example the converted documents are signed and final and do not need an electronic signature. Remove the check from: Include in missing signature report, Display icon on schedule, Prompt user to route for further signature

Click on the security button and add “doc change” to this document type. Click OK Click save

The result: I tested by logging in as an enduser and searched for a test patient with these document types. In the chart viewer select “LETTER". You can now click "View" to see the full note. You can click "Print" and still print. But if you click "Edit"…. Well you get a message that says “ You don’t have enough privileges to edit”. To grant someone those privileges they would need "Doc Change" added to their security settings.
